New restrictions imposed on Kombis   By Allan Mbotshwa   Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development, Honourable Felix Mhona has announced stricter regulations for kombis, aiming to reduce the number of fatal accidents caused by reckless driving.  Effective immediately, kombis will be limited to operating within a 60km radius of their designated starting point. Additionally, all kombis must be equipped with speed-limiting and monitoring devices. This decision follows a comprehensive review of the current restrictions, which were deemed insufficient to curb the rising toll of accidents involving kombis.   The new measures aim to address concerns about speeding, overloading, and reckless driving, which have been contributing factors to many fatal accidents.  The 60km radius limit will significantly restrict the routes kombis can operate on.  Popular routes like Harare to Bindura and Harare to Marondera will no longer be permitted. PORTRAZ gifts Jairos Jiri Association with minibus By Allan Mbotshwa A significant milestone was reached this week as a brand-new minibus was handed over to the Jairos Jiri for Rehabilitation of the Disabled and Blind, a renowned organization dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities. The minibus, procured through the generous contributions raised during a recent charity golf tournament, will serve as a vital tool for the Association's mission. The handover ceremony was marked by heartfelt speeches and expressions of gratitude. Speaking at the event, Potraz Director General Dr G. K. Machengete emphasized the importance of community-driven initiatives and the power of collective action. He thanked the numerous partners who participated in the golf tournament and made the donation possible, including Econet Wireless, Liquid Intelligent Technologies, University of Zimbabwe, TelOne, Dark Fibre Africa, ZB Bank, ZIMPOST, Powertel Communications, Compulink, Telecontract, Fedex, and Dandemutande.
