Nyaradzo Moyo: A Culinary Trailblazer By Allan Mbotshwa Nyaradzo Moyo, a former photography student, has transformed her passion for healthy eating into a thriving restaurant business, Yanaya Foods. Inspired by her own struggles to find nutritious vegetarian options in Zimbabwe, she founded Yanaya in 2016. Today, Yanaya boasts seven branches and a dedicated team of 105 employees. The restaurant chain is committed to promoting healthy lifestyles and supporting local farmers. Moyo's Christian faith plays a significant role in her business philosophy. "We're not just serving food; we're encouraging a healthier way of life," Moyo explains. "By partnering with local farmers, we're contributing to the local economy and ensuring that our customers have access to fresh, high-quality ingredients." While changing people's eating habits can be challenging, Moyo believes that education and innovation are key. "We're constantly experimenting with new flavors and techniques to make healthy eating enjoyable," she says. "Our goal is to redefine what it means to eat well." Beyond its delicious food, Yanaya offers a variety of wellness programs, including Dance Fitness Sundays. These initiatives align with the restaurant's commitment to promoting plant-based diets and reducing the risk of chronic diseases. "We believe that food labels should be clear and transparent," Moyo emphasizes. "Our customers deserve to know exactly what they're putting into their bodies." One of Yanaya's most popular offerings is its line of smoothies, made with natural ingredients and no added sugar. These smoothies often feature traditional Zimbabwean fruits like masawu, tsubvu, and baobab. With its focus on healthy, sustainable food and community engagement, Yanaya is poised to continue its growth and influence on the Zimbabwean food scene.
