Mozambican President to Open Zimbabwe Agricultural Show

Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi is set to officially open the 114th Zimbabwe Agricultural Show on August 27, 2024.  Mr Livit Mugejo, acting chief director for protocol and conference services at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade stated that President Nyusi's visit is a working trip, not a state visit.  

His attendance underscores the strong historical, cultural, and economic ties between Zimbabwe and Mozambique. The invitation to President Nyusi aims to bolster trade relations between the two countries.
 Mugejo emphasized the strengthened bilateral relationship, rooted in a mutual strategic partnership. 

"We invite foreign heads of state to open our agricultural show to strengthen trade ties. As a neighbouring country and significant trading partner, Mozambique offers us access to the sea.  “The show provides a platform for Zimbabwe and Mozambique to expand their bilateral trade and business relationships." 

The event is expected to draw over 200,000 visitors. 

The number of international exhibitors at the event has increased significantly, with twelve countries now represented, compared to just five last year. Russia, China and India among other countries have confirmed participation.
