Chibuku NeShamwari 2026 national finale comes to Harare Gardens

Harare – The countdown is on for one of Zimbabwe's most anticipated cultural events of the year. 

On August 1, 2026, the Chibuku NeShamwari National Finale will take over Harare Gardens in the capital, bringing together the 10 provincial champion dance groups for an electrifying showdown.

Guest artists who will perform at the event will be the "Ruzhowa" hit maker Jah Prayzah, Baba Harare, Nisha Ts and Chillspot to mention but a few.

Since May, provincial finals have been running across the country, whittling down hundreds of talented traditional dance crews to just ten — one champion from each province. 

Now, these elite groups will converge on Harare with one goal: being crowned the 2026 national champions.

The stakes have never been higher.

The winner walks away with US15,000, the first runner−up receives US10 000, and the second runner-up takes home US$7,500 — life-changing sums for many of the young dancers involved.

This year's theme, "Ngoma Ngairire Shamwari, Tshay'sgubhu Mngane" , captures the soul of the competition. 

Translated loosely, it calls on the drums to sound for friendship and invites everyone to join the rhythm — a beautiful reflection of how traditional dance unites communities across Zimbabwe's diverse provinces.

The event is jointly organized by the Zimbabwe National Traditional Dancers Association (ZNTDA) and the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe, with sponsorship from Delta Beverages. 

Together, they have curated a festival that promises not just fierce competition, but a vibrant celebration of Zimbabwean heritage — pulsating drums, dazzling costumes, and the kind of raw energy that only live traditional dance can deliver.
