Mhangura’s new virtual hospital is transforming local Healthcare

The official opening of the OneHealth Telemedicine Virtual Hospital in Mhangura marks a transformative milestone for local healthcare, effectively proving that geography should no longer be a barrier to quality medical services.

This innovative facility, established through a strategic partnership between NetOne and Zim Smart Village, brings healthcare directly to the people of Mhangura by leveraging robust digital infrastructure to enable virtual consultations and remote diagnostics.

For a community that previously faced significant hurdles in accessing care, this initiative offers immediate practical benefits, most notably the drastic reduction of travel costs and the elimination of unnecessary hardships associated with seeking medical attention.

By providing a digital bridge to specialist medical expertise that was once beyond reach, the virtual hospital ensures that expectant mothers, the elderly, and those living with chronic illnesses can now receive timely and dignified care within their own community.

Beyond the immediate convenience, the project represents "technology with a human face," focusing on improving long-term health outcomes and enhancing the overall dignity of the residents.

As a direct contribution to the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1) and the transition into NDS2, the facility modernizes public service delivery and invests in the nation's most valuable resource—its people.

This shift toward digital health is a cornerstone of broader national goals, supporting the vision of a healthy and productive society that is essential for Zimbabwe’s economic progress.

By integrating ICTs into the health sector, the Mhangura community is now part of a more inclusive healthcare system where connectivity serves as a vital tool for wellbeing and national development.
