Prevail International revitalizing Healthcare and Student Living at Parirenyatwa

Significant transformation is underway at the Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, with extensive renovations at the Mbuya Nehanda Maternity Hospital and the Adlam House student nurses’ residence promising a modern and enhanced environment for both patients and healthcare professionals in training.

Spearheaded by Prevail International, these projects underscore the Zimbabwean government's commitment to modernizing its healthcare infrastructure.

The Mbuya Nehanda Maternity Hospital is on track for a major overhaul, with demolitions nearly 90% complete and renovations already at 15%. This state-of-the-art facility will feature improved patient reception areas, contemporary nurseries, and advanced infection control systems. 

According to Vanessa Butao, Prevail project manager, "The hospital will be redesigned to be more functional and welcoming, with relocated air ducts to enhance hygiene." 

The ongoing installation of aluminum windows and plumbing fittings are key steps in creating a facility that prioritizes both patient comfort and health safety.

Equally impactful are the renovations at Adlam House, the student nurses’ residence, which have reached an impressive 70% completion.

 This modernization effort is set to significantly enhance the living conditions for the 353 female student nurses who will call Adlam House home. 

Critical plumbing work, electrical system upgrades, new flooring, and ceilings are already in place, promising a comfortable and conducive learning environment.

A highlight of the Adlam House renovation is the installation of a 120kW solar system, ensuring a sustainable and reliable energy supply. 

Furthermore, as Miss Tariro Dondo, Prevail Public Relations Manager, revealed, "We have some additional amenities like a swimming pool for recreational use which shall have solar heated water during winter." 

This thoughtful addition speaks volumes about the commitment to the students' well-being beyond their academic pursuits.

These renovations are more than just structural upgrades; they represent a vital investment in the future of healthcare in Zimbabwe. 

By providing modern facilities for maternal care and enhancing the living and learning environment for student nurses, the projects directly align with President Mnangagwa’s pledge to prioritize the rehabilitation and modernization of public health infrastructure.

The Adlam House renovations, in particular, are expected to be completed and handed over by September 1, 2025, marking a significant milestone in ensuring that Zimbabwe's aspiring healthcare professionals are nurtured in a setting that reflects the importance of their vital role.
